Everything You Wanted To Know About Ann McMan, Famous Author
That’s right—it’s been a big week for AMFA, as she sat down for an interview with Jody Klaire, author of The Emapth, and then wrote up guest blogs for both Women and Words and The Liz McMullen Show.

She’s also a professional graphics designer, and the mad talent behind TreeHouse Studio—over the last three years, she’s designed more than eighty book covers for authors and publishers of LGBTQIA literature. Join her as she talks about what makes and breaks a great book cover.
Ann McMan’s Casting Notes on Liz McMullen’s Guest Blog Monday: Two years ago, Ann McMan sat down to begin writing what would become her magnum opus, Backcast, the followup to her hit novella, Bottle Rocket. While two years might seem like forever in lesbian literature years, this story is epic in proportion, and involves thirteen primary characters on a writer’s retreat in Vermont. It features a central, comic narrative (the ladies enter a tournament bass fishing competition), but is punctuated by a series of deadly serious, nonfiction essays. It’s that whole point, counterpoint thing where comedy cannot be separated from tragedy. And, in this guest blog, Ann shares her casting notes for the roll of Phoebe, a wisecracking, two-hundred-year-old largemouth bass.
Salem West is the Publisher of Bywater Books and a member of the Lambda Literary Board of Trustees. She lives in Winston-Salem, NC with her wife, the author Ann McMan, their two dogs, two cats, and an exhaustive supply of vacuum cleaner bags.
