Ann McMan is the Lambda Literary Award-winning author of nine novels and two collections of short stories. She is a recipient of the Alice B. Medal for her body of work, an eight-time winner of Golden Crown Literary Society Awards, and a two-time Independent Publisher’s (IPPY) medalist.
Ann also is a nationally recognized, career graphic design professional with more than 35 years of experience—and she runs TreeHouse Studio. Ann has won numerous national and international design awards and has worked for a wide variety of clients, including The Royal Shakespeare Company, National Public Radio, The Trump Taj Mahal, Sappi Paper International, The Presbyterian Church (USA), Sisterfire, The Roadwork Center, Duke University, The University of Pennsylvania (Penn) New Bolton Center, Davidson College, Bates College, Guilford College, Lambda Literary, Golden Crown Literary Society (GCLS), TOSOS (The Other Side of Silence), Triad Health Project (HIV/AIDS), The Eastern Music Festival, NHPCO (National Hospice and Palliative Care Organizations), the Hershey Community Chorus, and violinist Ariel Horowitz.
In recent years, Ann has earned acclaim as a premier designer of book covers for small press, indie and mainstream outlets, and was the inaugural recipient of the Tee Corinne Excellence in Cover Design Award from the GCLS. She continues to devote many hours to volunteer work within the LGBT community. Ann resides in Winston-Salem, NC with her wife, Bywater Books publisher, Salem West.
