Appearances – Past & Present

  • June 13-17, 2012 – Ann appeared at the Golden Crown Literary Conference in Minneapolis, MN. She participated in a panel with authors Lori Lake, Ellen Hart, and Elizabeth Sims, and read the first chapter of her novella, “Bottle Rocket”, from her new book of short stories, SIDECAR. The highlight of the Con for Ann was presenting the 2012 Speculative Fiction Award with Keynote Speaker, Jewelle Gomez (and getting a kiss.) Prior to the Con, Ann participated in the GCLS Character Auction — the bidding for a character in AFTERMATH was hot and heavy, especially as the clock ticked down to zero. The winning bid was for $550 — all donations were used to fund scholarships to attend the 2012 GCLS Conference.
  • March 31, 2012 – Ann moseyed back from her recent jaunt to the Lone Star Lesfic Festival in Austin, Texas. Check out her Facebook page for updates and photos, and a little more on the trip to Spec’s Liquors. Bold Strokes author, Carson Taite caught up with Ann right before her appearance on the panel and we have this “Dusting Up” vlog to share with you. Somehow a Marlin factors into this. We’re too afraid to ask.

Salem West is the Publisher of Bywater Books and a member of the Lambda Literary Board of Trustees. She lives in Winston-Salem, NC with her wife, the author Ann McMan, their two dogs, two cats, and an exhaustive supply of vacuum cleaner bags.
